Love, Felt: A Black & BIPOC Valentine’s Writing Circle Thru the Five Senses
Past
Love, Felt is an in-person Valentine’s Day writing class for Black & BIPOC adults in Portland, exploring love beyond romance thru the senses
This Valentine’s Day, join us for an in-person writing workshop in Portland created especially for Black and BIPOC community.
This care-centered, sensory writing circle explores love beyond romance—through friendship, chosen family, community, memory, and self.
In a world that often asks us to be strong, composed, or resilient before we are allowed to be tender, this space offers a different pace. Together, we will slow down and explore love as it has been felt and lived.
Using the five senses—touch, sound, smell, taste, and sight—we’ll move through guided meditation, generative writing prompts, and reflection. Optional sharing is offered in a supportive, non-performative environment. The experience also includes time to shape and work with what you’ve written and the option to create a small keepsake to take home.
No writing experience is required. This session stands on its own and is designed as a gentle, affirming way to begin Valentine’s Day grounded in care and connection.
Facilitated by: La Toya A. Hampton, MSW aka The Poet Lady Rose
