This role is a Scientist in the Digital Engineering Strategy (W-DES) group at LANL, supporting five nuclear weapon systems (B61, W76, W78, W88, W93). You’d develop, document, and maintain system requirements, manage changes to those requirements, and work closely with weapon system engineers, production realization team leads, design physicists, and external agencies like DoD and NNSA. The job calls for a STEM bachelor’s + ~2 years of related experience (or equivalent), basic R&D/technical problem-solving skills, solid written communication, and the ability to work both independently and on teams. Experience with nondestructive analysis, project reporting/presentations, and an active DOE Q clearance are pluses. W93 Chemical and Materials Test Scientist (Scientist 2/3) at Los Alamos National Laboratory
This is a Materials Scientist (Scientist 2 or 3) position at Los Alamos National Lab on the W93 nuclear warhead program, focused on materials compatibility and aging qualification. You’d plan, run, and analyze tests that show how materials in the new W93 warhead and test bodies perform over time, then use that data to help qualify the system for the Navy’s new submarine-launched missile. At the Scientist 2 level, you manage planning, execution, and reporting for a subset of tests and coordinate with internal LANL teams; at the Scientist 3 level, you also lead larger test portfolios, work more directly with external partners (NNSA, Navy, Sandia, Lockheed), and mentor junior staff.
The job requires at least a STEM bachelor’s + 4 years (Sci 2) or STEM master’s + 6 years (Sci 3), strong materials/chemical science and testing experience, and, at the higher level, proven leadership, cross-org collaboration, project management, and interface with DoD/NNSA-type stakeholders. It’s an onsite role in Los Alamos, requires the ability to get and hold a Q clearance, US citizenship, and passing a federal background check and drug test. The salary ranges are $104,100–$172,200 (Sci 2) and $125,200–$211,300 (Sci 3), with strong benefits (medical, PTO, 401(k) match, relocation, etc.).

A Research Technician 1 is being sought to join the laboratory of Dr. Ryoma “Puck” Ohi in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Molecular Medicine at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, with lab space located on the 2nd floor of Cancer Research Facility (CRF). Studies in the Ohi laboratory focus on the microtubule cytoskeleton with an emphasis on tubulin post-translational modifications (PTMs) and tubulin PTM “readers”. The laboratory uses a wide range of techniques, which includes biochemistry, cell culture, and quantitative optical microscopy. The successful applicant will be expected to carry out administrative and organizational tasks, which include ordering and upkeep of standard laboratory reagents. The role will also include molecular cloning, cell culture, and protein isolation from either prokaryotic or eukaryotic sources.
