Black Family Storytime St. Johns Library
The African and Black American experience comes alive for children from birth to age 6 (with their favorite adult/family members). Have fun with books and stories, songs, and movement activities in a positive and affirming environment. Black Storytime builds language and literacy skills your child needs to be ready for kindergarten. Attendance is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Multnomah County Library storytimes are supported by gifts made to The Library Foundation.

Please join Word is Bond for our 9th-annual community showcase celebrating our Rising Leaders Program, 2026! Please join Word is Bond for our 2026 Community Exhibition and Showcase on Thursday, August 7th, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Moriarty Auditorium at the Portland Community Showcase Cascade Campus! The Community Showcase is a celebration of the hard work of our summer ambassadors over our seven-week Rising Leaders leadership program. We begin with our Community Exhibition from 5:30-6:30, where attendees will meet and mingle with our first-year ambassadors who will be displaying their poster projects on our summer theme. Guests will enjoy a red-carpet arrival and photo wall, music, and hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served. The Showcase will highlight the work over the past six months from our Spring Leadership Forum in D.C., our summer internships, and an exclusive discussion with our ambassadors who just returned from Ghana. We will also be awarding our second annual Ambassador Leadership Awards, with awardees earning a trip to visit the Barack Obama Presidential Library in Chicago, Illinois, this Fall.
